Derby name: A Fishy Ate Her
How did you find out about roller derby? I saw a flyer for a Fresh Meat and Greet at the 406.
What kind of skating skills or athletic experience did you have before starting derby?
Mostly backpacking or horseback riding. I roller skated when I was a kid at Bozeman Hot Springs.
How did you chose your derby name?
I started out as Special Ed. That was a previous business name. I don’t even remember how I came up with the latest version of my name.
What is your primary position?
Pack definition seems to help the team so I do that at practice. For some reason I enjoy skating backwards so I like Front Pack position. I also like Outside Pack because it’s FAST.
What is your greatest strength as a skater?
I’ve been told that my positioning is good, being in the best place to see what’s going on in the pack. Theoretically it should help me make correct Penalty calls.
What do you contribute most to the team?
Pack definition in practices helps the team get a feel for their boundaries.
What has been your greatest experience on the track?
Jumping over down skaters is loads of fun!
What are you looking forward to the most this season?
Close, hard-fought and well-played games!
What do you contribute to GRG off the track?
Trying to enlist players and refs, and explaining the game.
What do you do in the non-derby part of your life?
I’m a remodeling contractor.
If you could have any super power what would it be?
Lightening fast mental processing ability.
What’s the one piece of advice you would give people interested in playing roller derby?
Strap some wheels on your feet and Come try it out!
